Mia Bell-Gallagher received the majority of her formal training under the guidance of Barbara Sandonato and Alexei Yudenich at The South Jersey Academy of Ballet in Voorhees, NJ. While there, she performed with their company The Children’s Ballet Theatre. Her additional training and pre-professional experience was as a trainee at The School of the Pennsylvania Ballet in Philadelphia, as well as with Marcia Dale Weary at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
At the age of 17, Ms. Bell-Gallagher accepted a contract with the St. Louis Ballet Company in St. Louis MO, under the direction of Ludmilla Doukodovsky and Antoni Zalewski. She quickly rose to the rank of Soloist and performed various roles with the company including; Dew Drop in The Nutcracker, Pig-Tail Girl in Graduation Ball, Diamond Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, and as one of the Petite Cygnes in Swan Lake. Ms. Bell-Gallagher was also a full time-staff member at the company’s school. Additionally, Mia danced with the Connecticut Ballet Theatre under the direction of Brett Raphael and assisted in his after-school dance outreach program in Stanford City Schools, CT.
Following her performing career, Ms. Bell Gallagher served as a full time faculty member at The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet and developed an academic program to serve the pre-professional students studying at the school. She served as the Ballet Mistress at the school’s satellite program Rock School West along side Christopher Flemming. Mia was a faculty member under her mentor Barbara Sandonato at The Sandonato School of Ballet in Philadelphia.
Many of Ms. Bell-Gallagher’s students have gone on to receive scholarships to the School of American Ballet, the Rock School of Dance Education and various college dance programs. A number of her students have danced with such companies as The New York City Ballet, The Pennsylvania Ballet and The St. Louis Ballet. Moreover, Mia has completed her Master of Education Degree at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA. She is currently a full time teacher with Evesham Township School District teaching gifted and talented students in grades 3-8.
